Chotie Darling,
Just the few old lines to let you know that everything is OK out here. Having a quiet day today so I’ve taken the very welcome opportunity to do some washing (including myself) and to organise generally.
Tony (Church Farm) Smith* has been reported missing here, so I’m spending most of my spare time (?) chasing his padre for news of him.
The mail situation has improved considerably, as it’s being flown instead of going by ship.
Thank you for all your many letters, Darling. They help enormously out here. We’ve just received our first bread – one loaf per four men, which I shall devour for supper. Apart from bread we have practically everything (less beer….).
Hope to write you at greater length tomorrow. Be good, Darling. I’m always thinking of you.
All my love
Dicker
*Dick went to Tony Smith’s wedding in Pagham, Sussex, in October 1943.
