Richard Kelner Williams, a bachelor of 23 years,
marries Barbara Elizabeth Chalkley, a spinster of 21 years,
in Chichester Register Office on 6th March 1945.
Richard (‘Dicker’) is resident at ‘St Margarets’, 9 Sea Lane, Pagham, near Bognor Regis and his occupation is Lieutenant Reconnaissance Corps (previously Public School Student). His father is Dudley Kelner Beresford Williams, a retired Master Mechanical Engineer.
Barbara (‘Chotie’) is resident at “The Hollies”, Commercial Road, Parkstone and her occupation is W/242328 Private A.T.S. (previously Drapery Store Window Dresser). Her father is William James Chalkley, the Managing Director of a Dairy Firm (Creekmoor Dairies).
The marriage is witnessed by Elizabeth Chalkley (Chotie’s mother), Alice Maude Williams (Dick’s mother), J. Dilys Williams (Dick’s sister) and B.H. Hall (Betty Hall, Chotie’s eldest sister).
Dick’s 1945 diary for March:
6th Tues – Married at Chichester. Left for Spreadeagle* Midhurst.
*The Spread Eagle is a lovely historical hotel in Midhurst, West Sussex where Dick and Chotie spent the one night of their honeymoon.

“Congratulations best wishes for the future” from Mr & Mrs Gladdis of Wimborne (the parents of Margaret’s fiancée Tom LINK who was killed early in the war)
“Congratulations and all good wishes” from Auntie Mary & Robert of South London

Letters of congratulations were sent by Aunt Hilda (of ‘Cairo Cottage’ 14 Broad Oak End, Bramfield Road, Hertford) and ‘Rita’ and a card from Donald and Mary Hoare (of 15, Grasmere Road, Purley, Surrey).
On 8th March another telegram was sent from Parkstone:
