Letter written Friday 9th March 1945
Pagham
9 Mar. 45
My darling,
We are all sitting in the porch, idly taking the sun. It’s such a beautiful day & yet, I feel perfectly “B… - it is so empty with-out you here, my precious.
Still, it does really seem as though you will be back again soon – the news being so excellent.
Have decided to write this to Brinner, as he should know, more or less, where you are.
You know my bracelet, - well after all that, I lost it. This morning I popped into Bognor, but no luck. Enquired all over the place, but I guess I have “had it”. Still, who cares?
Not having you to shove me out of bed in the early hours of the morning, I had a jolly long lie in this morning. Did not rise until about 10.30 – shocking.
Hoping to catch a train home, about 5. Dilys & Mum are coming into Chichester with me.
I do hope, darling, that you got back quite alright & comfortably. You must have felt pretty hellish. One thing, Dicky, we shall have loads & loads of time, to be together for always.
It was very wonderful to be with you for even this short while, so it is a glorious thought that we have a life-time to spend.
Don’t feel too blue – I am trying not to.
I will write tomorrow from home & give you the latest dope on any presents & things.
Take care, my darling, & come back soon,
All my love, my husband,
Chotie
